PANEL REPAIR COURSE
Aluminum - Level 1
2 Days

Relevant to technicians of all experience levels, BETAG’s Aluminum Panel Repair program focuses on the core principles of straightening aluminum auto body panels, to a level of finish that requires minimal filler to complete a high-quality repair.

These skills can be applied across a wide range of simple and more complex aluminum panel repairs, including damage through a body line.

This benefits the technician by enabling them to: complete repairs more quickly (to a similar or higher quality standard); repair some panels that would previously have been replaced; and significantly reduce the refinish area on all types of damages to save time, cost of materials and improve the overall quality of repair.

Course Objective

Increase technicians’ skills to repair medium sized damages on aluminum outer panels, by implementing advanced repair techniques that uphold quality and efficiency of the repair process.

Overview

Day 1 starts with the material properties of aluminum; the characteristics of plastic and elastic deformations to aluminum panels; and using light to identify the complete damage area and various zones within it. Using this as a foundation, the rest of day 1 focuses on a range of repair methods, including soft push, glue pulling and BETAG’s Alu T-hotbox to repair largely elastic deformations on aluminum panels.

Day 2 builds on the knowledge and skills needed to straighten more complex plastic deformations to aluminum panels, using stud welding together with a combination of the techniques learned on day one.

Note – Technicians are encouraged to complete BETAG’s Panel Repair (Steel) – Level 1 class before attending this Aluminum Panel Repair – Level 1 class, but it is not a pre-requisite.
